Cian O'Flaherty - The Convex Lens
Cian O’Flaherty began his career as a radio station researcher and worked on radio programmes for Dublin City FM and the well-known current affairs programme ‘The Last Word with Matt Cooper’ on TODAY FM.

In 2010, Cian became the MD of Frontline LED, a supplier of emergency lighting before setting up the Convex Lens in 2017 to provide wireless solutions for building compliance and maintenance issues.
Cian was a participant of the New Frontiers 13 programme at the Media Cube, IADT and completed the programme in 2018. In October 2018, the Convex Lens won an SBIR tender from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to provide smart solutions for monitoring devices using the light infrastructure in Dún Laoghaire. In January 2019 the company won an SBIR contract with Limerick City Council Council to provide fire safety solutions for historical buildings in the county.
The Convex Lens launched the first automated emergency lighting project on NBIOT in early March 2020. The company delivered their new Safecility emergency lighting solution to Halton Housing, a housing association based outside Liverpool in the UK. This solution creates safer buildings and homes using cutting edge IoT technology and is the first application of its type in the world.
In addition, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Cian and Tad McAllister, the IoT Manager of the Convex Lens co-founded the Feed the Heroes campaign which ran from March - June 2020 and raised over one million euros to provide free healthy meals to the COVID-19 frontline workers Ireland during the crisis.
