GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is in force since 25 May 2018. IADT holds and processes personal data about many different types of people such as its current, past or prospective employees, applicants, students, alumni, suppliers, contractors, members of the public, etc. The Institute processes this personal data to carry out its business and administrative functions and to comply with statutory requirements. This personal data is subject to data protection legislation.

Privacy Notices

The GDPR brings new and enhanced rights for individuals (data subjects) whose data is processed in IADT. Individuals have the right to know what IADT does with their personal data. This information is provided in Privacy notices/statements. Below are documents relating to Staff Privacy Notices, Student Privacy Notices and Applicant Privacy Notices.

Submitting a Data Subject Access request

Individuals have the right to seek access to the information that IADT holds about them.

If you wish to make an enquiry about data that relates to yourself, then please make a request (which must be in writing). It can be sent by email, or use the link provided to the IADT Data Subject Access Request Form and send to the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Officer, IADT, Kill Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, Co. It is important to include the following information in your request:

Full name
Your contact details
If you are a student, your student ID number
If you are a previous student or member of staff, details of when you were at the Institute and what you studied/the department in which you worked
A full description of the information you are requesting. Please provide as much information as possible to help the Institute locate the information such as the time periods concerned, names of members of staff you may have dealt with or who may be able to locate the information, the department or areas of the Institute that are most likely to hold the relevant information. Note we may have to get back to you to seek further clarification if we do not have enough detail to enable us to find the information you are seeking.

The Institute will ask for evidence of your identity before releasing personal information.

In most cases we will respond to your request within one month. If your request is particularly complex, we may have to extend this time by a further two months but we will inform you if this is the case and explain the reasons for the delay.
